EQ-Check : Software For Computer Aided Seismic Checking And Design Of Concrete Structures (SECG)

In India, there is a strong need to develop indigenous low-cost software, in the area of seismic analysis and design of structures using all the Indian Standard (IS) codes and put it for use by the Indian academicians, researchers, practicing structural engineers and civil engineers. Currently available software in market, (like Ansys, STAAD-Pro, STRAP, STRUDS, BUILDMASTER, etc.) are not handling earthquake checking and design of structures using Indian Standard codes of practices, so those are not fully usable for Indian users for their design of structural members. Currently the technology to handle large scale numerical simulations with IS codes and practices is not available for Indian users.

The Scientific and Engineering Computing group (SECG), in collaboration with SGSITS-Indore, has undertaken the development of EQ-Check v1.0 which will help to tackle problems related to checking and design of earthquake resistant structures, potentially saving money, structures and lives.

Features:

  • A module based software for designing and checking of structural members such as slab, beam, column and footing.
  • User-friendly software having GUI support for pre and postprocessing data.
  • Incorporation of all codal requirement of the Indian standard codes of practice for earthquake engineering.
  • Redesigning of structural components so as to make them earthquake resistant. And safe.
  • Beneficial to a wide range of researchers, academicians and field engineers who deals with seismic design of concrete structures.
